Does Climate change exist? If it does, what should be done about it? If it doesn't, what proof do you have?
What are your thoughts? But then, 1°C is not that much. What determines whether people die in heat waves is not whether temperatures rose to 110°F — or even 115°F— instead of 109°F. It is whether or not they have air conditioning. Heat-related deaths have halved in the US since 1960 — even as the population expanded and heat waves grew in frequency, intensity, and length — because more and more people did.
And not all climate alarmists are altruists. Elites have used the cause to justify efforts to control food and energy policies for more than three decades. Climate alarmists have successfully redirected funding from the World Bank and similar institutions away from economic development and toward charitable endeavours — which don’t power growth.
This year’s increase in coal production is a case in point. China has been widely criticised for waiving environmental and safety regulations on its mining recently, in a mad rush to meet winter heating demands. But less attention has been paid to the fact that the increased demand is mostly due to climate activists’ efforts to prevent oil and gas development in Europe and the United States. Lack of natural gas is what led directly to China having to reopen coal mines — and to Europe, North America, and the rest of Asia having to burn more coal. Had climate activists not fought fracking in America and expanded oil and gas drilling in Europe, then we would not be experiencing its worst energy crisis in 50 years.
The truth is that prosperity and environmental progress go hand in hand. Reductions in carbon emissions came from fracking and off-shore natural gas drilling; both lowered electricity prices, too. Technological innovation like this lowers energy prices, which reduces natural resource use, moving humans from wood to coal to natural gas to uranium. So it’s better to see growth — such a bogeyman to Team Green — as a solution, rather than a problem.
So true! Thanks for sharing too. I sometime wonder if we are doing more bad than good. They are pushing something to fast and it will shut things down if we are not careful.Where the secondary effects of climate change do cause catastrophe, it’s often due to failures on the part of authorities.
This article may interest you: https://edition.cnn.com/2023/04/07/world/uranus-rings-webb-telescope-scn/index.htmlWhen I think about our planet, I can't help but think about the other planets in our solar system. How are they doing?
Recently there was an article from NASA about Saturn's rings warming up the planet. "Saturn's vast ring system is heating the giant planet's upper atmosphere. The phenomenon has never before been seen in the solar system." https://science.nasa.gov/hubble-finds-saturns-rings-heating-its-atmosphere
When I read about changes on the other planets, that don't have human beings living on them, I then think that scientists are blaming humans on something that's going to naturally happen.
Jupiter's spot is becoming less cigar shape and more circular. The winds on the planet are causing that.
Our climate is changing and will continue to change. The governments can help our "environment", but it's not going to stop the climate from going through any type of change that's already set in place.
@fords8 started a thread here: https://debatehq.net/threads/see-uranus’-rings-in-stunning-new-image-from-the-webb-telescope.135/In the original images Voyager 2 took of Uranus, the planet had appeared as a blue ball with no features. In this new Webb image, similar to other recent images by the Hubble Space Telescope, storm clouds can be seen at the edge of the polar cap. Uranus’ tilt causes extreme seasons and this stormy weather, and scientists are monitoring and documenting the changes over time by comparing telescope images.
When we now have thunderstorm, sandstorm and what have you, no one needs to ask if we have proof of climate change. It looks us down in the face everyday and it's literally to keep getting worst. When it gets hot, it would be as if we are getting scorched and when it gets cold, it's going to be like we are getting frozen.Does Climate change exist? If it does, what should be done about it? If it doesn't, what proof do you have?
In that case what do you think is the cause of increasing extreme weather events?I remember a discussion I had with my mum a few months back about climate change and how the news and government seem to be making it sound a lot worse than it is.
My mum remembers things such as snow in June and other weather events as well. She always remembers in December when there was a huge clap of thunder and her dad (my grandad) said something about it thundering in December which was very unusual.
Do I feel that things humans do on Earth may be affecting climate change? Yes. Do I think it's affecting it as badly as they say? No. I believe they are over-exaggerating to an extent to scare people into changing what they do.
Seriously, this is very bad now! I just want the raining season to come already but unfortunately it's still very far like 3-4 mouths out.The climatic change in my country right now is worrisome. The heat wave is just terrible. We can't sleep well here in my region m it really bad.
It's really terrible in my region. The heat is just overbearing and it can be very annoying. Well praying for the rains to descend soon.Seriously, this is very bad now! I just want the raining season to come already but unfortunately it's still very far like 3-4 mouths out.
It's just like how hot it was in the TV show Spartacus which I watched years ago. They had a weather so hot it felt like they're being burnt alive. It's really terrible in my region. The heat is just overbearing and it can be very annoying. Well praying for the rains to descend soon.
It's like how it started raining here last night. There wasn't any forecast it wad going to rain but all of a sudden it did. The rain last for more than 8 hours. Climate and weather can be so unpredictable. On the same day, it could be rainy in the morning. Then in the afternoon, the weather is very hot like it is a summer day. In my country, climate change then happens so you do not know if you are wearing winter or summer clothes.
