Nuclear power or Renewable energy to conserve the environment?

The primary focus of the world now has been on making the environment sustainable. And one good step in that direction is to find alternative sources of energy. Two contenders come to mind that would still keep the environment safe for us. They are nuclear power and renewable energy.

The two have minimal impacts on the environment. But which do you think is ideal to preserve the environment?

I think it is better to work on renewal energy sources like wind, solar, hydro instead of nuclear power. We already a lot of energy sources around us, all we need to do is to trap into it.
