The gig economy has seen a rise in acceptance and adoption over the years. It seems like it has democratized the workspace and allowed people to work on their own terms. On the other hand, it seems like employers are taking advantage to have valuable services for lowered pay.

Do you think of the gig economy as being truly empowering or it is just a system to exploit the workforce?

The gig economy is very exploitative of you ask me. The rates offered for tasks and jobs in the gig economy is a far cry with what would be obtainable if that job is taken by a person on site.

I would say that the gig economy is empowering for people in the lower tier countries. There are many people in the world these countries that would have been unemployed right now if not for the gig economy. It seems exploitative for people in developed countries.

In the internet sector, large companies are robbing the data of some online investors, workers who are doing free research for these companies making millions of dollars in profit. So while the employees get very good salaries, the online investors, workers whose data these top companies rob are making less than maidservants due to the online slavery racket.
