So something my youngest who is 13 mentioned to me the other day was "Can we get paid to go to school?" and my answer was no as that is exactly the case, you can not get paid to go to school and it is the law to go to school.

His question however did get me thinking, with so many kids that do not like going to school and their parents and the school have issues getting them into school, would giving them some kind of incentive encourage them to attend school regularly?

What are your thoughts?

Imagine getting manipulated by your kids to have them go to school by having to pay them? This is one of hilarious things that I have read online today. I don't care if you want to go to school but if you expect me to pay you before you go to school and get the knowledge that's going to help you with your own life, you're the joke of the century.

For me I wouldn't support the children to be paid for them to go to school.
In a matter of fact as a parent you must teach your kids the importance of them getting educated. Tell them the truth of life without education is like a suicide.
Never ever bribe your children to go to school as that is very dangerous cause your are likely not to have money for the bribe everyday.

It would probably surprise you to know that the school my kids go to actually does this to a certain extent. They base it on attendance and kids with the highest attendance get things such as a laptop, iPad, or even gift cards from around £50 for having great attendance so in theory, paying them in some way. These things come out of the pocket of the Principal who buys them himself and decides who gets them based on attendance. It does seem to work as kids seem to want to be in school more and usually hate it when they are ill and have to miss a day.

Not sure how many other schools do it but I guess in a sense, they do give them an incentive to come to school.
